Why is progesterone so important during - and AFTER - pregnancy? What are my early pregnancy symptoms?
First, progesterone's importance to pregnancy exists because pregnancy depends on it! What are my early pregnancy symptoms will be covered afterward. For example - during ovulation, there is a surge of progesterone which results in a much higher sex drive and the urge to procreate.
Progesterone maintains the lining of the uterus, where the fertilized egg attaches itself. And during pregnancy, progesterone prevents the premature shedding of the uterine lining. Which is to say, that any drop in progesterone levels could result in the loss of the embryo. And miscarriage is a well-known fact of life for too many women.
What many women don't know is that most of the progesterone produced during the last two trimesters of pregnancy is produced, not by the ovaries, but by the placenta! Pregnancy is a powerful physical, emotional and spiritual experience. As a pregnancy progresses, the placenta must produce an ever-increasing amount of progesterone until the birth of the baby, to support the fetus and the health of the mother.
In fact, during the third trimester, the placenta will be creating up to 300-400 milligrams of progesterone per day, TEN times the usual amount made during ovulation. It therefore comes as no surprise that after the birth of the baby and the loss of the placenta, progesterone production and levels drop very suddenly - no placenta, no progesterone, or very little.
So - applying natural progesterone cream can help keep body levels of progesterone high during pregnancy - just in case there might be some shortage in the mother's system. And AFTER pregnancy, applying Natural Progesterone cream can be very helpful in helping keep the symptoms of "postpartum depression" from happening for most women.
To help keep your hormones balanced, Natural Progesterone may be what's needed to support pregnancy and keep postpartum depression from happening. There are different medical and non-medical symptoms among the very early signs of pregnancy among different women. For some, very early signs of pregnancy will mean the only faintest physical signs which are almost undetectable to any but the woman herself.
During pregnancy the effects of estrogen are the following:
Enlarges the uterus
Enlarges your genitals
Stimulates the milk glands and enlarges your breasts
Increases blood volume by 30% and causes fluid retention
During pregnancy the effects of progesterone are the following:
Stimulates the growth of the placenta
Stimulates the growth of cells that feed the embryo
Prepares the breasts for milk production
What are very early pregnancy signs and symptoms?
Most women, if asked - what were your early pregnancy symptoms - would certainly remember. Some women can detect the moment when they have experienced ovulation, when many women cannot. Some women can also detect when their fertile period of the month has come to an end. And some women can detect the moment they have become pregnant.
For others, one of the standard medical tests is the only reliable way to know very early pregnancy signs and symptoms.
But for many, the "earliest" of the very early signs of pregnancy are the most frequently found physical symptoms common to most women, approximately 5 all together:
Missed Period This is regarded as the most obvious among very early pregnancy signs and symptoms. But its well known many women have missed periods for different health reasons and conditions illness, stress, adverse reactions to foods and ingestion of substances which give the individual woman some level of adverse reaction.
In other words, even the missed period needs to be confirmed by other means. Its also the case that many women have missed periods as part of their ongoing overall health picture.
Morning Sickness This is frequently regarded as another obvious example of my early pregnancy symptoms. But this very early sign of pregnancy not only needs to be seen for several days to be considered reliable, but can have unrelated causes.
Sore and Enlarged Breasts Early pregnancy begins a series of changes in the womans normal hormonal levels. However, the womans body is not prepared for these changes when they first occur. There are several reactions which happen in her body in reaction to new hormone levels, the most obvious of which is the change in shape of, and feelings of soreness in the breasts. The good news is that these feelings of soreness go away fairly quickly as the womans body becomes used to the new hormone chemistry.
Frequent trips to the bathroom More frequent urination is reported by women as one of my early pregnancy symptoms, in that many women begin more frequent urination even before they have a missed period. The reason for this, as with sore and enlarged breasts, is a change in hormone levels produced by the implantation of the embryo.
In this case, a hormone called "human chorionic gonadotropin" is produced, which has the side effect of causing more frequent urination. As with other symptoms, this is another of the very early signs of pregnancy which can be mistaken for some other condition, or as a reaction to the consumption of various foods or other substances. And it needs to be confirmed by one of the other first signs of pregnancy, or the results of a diagnostic test.
Fatigue This is another of the first signs of pregnancy, which is sometimes hard to distinguish from other, more regularly felt kinds of exhaustion. Some health professionals attribute this fatigue, again, to the change in hormones in the womans body which mostly disappears as the body adjusts to the changes.
These are the most frequently found first signs of pregnancy that most women agree on. Some women will have some of these signs, and some will have either one, or none or ALL of these signs. There can be obvious changes from individual to individual.
Natural progesterone supplementation has very positive benefits, stops symptom of hormone imbalance and has no known side effects. Women have been using it safely for the last 30 years.
The easiest and most effective form to use is natural progesterone CREAM. All you do is apply it directly to your skin, and from there it's absorbed into the underlying fat layer. Then, the natural progesterone can be absorbed into the blood stream on a continuous basis as the body needs it.
It is suggested to be used from conception to delivery, applied primarily to the abdomen, breast, lower back and upper thighs (where it will tend to prevent the skin from stretching). For the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy (the first six months), use an average of one-half to three-quarters of a teaspoon, 2-3 times a day. During the last trimester, apply one teaspoon 2-3 times a day.
Discontinue at delivery and resume again at one-quarter teaspoon twice per day beginning one month after delivery. Natural progesterone cream is extremely useful for post-partum depression, which many women experience after childbirth.

Dr. Lauersen says studies on the offspring of women who used natural progesterone during their pregnancies show that these women have given birth to especially well-adjusted children.
Dr. Dalton summarized her 1968 research of 90 children whose mothers received ante-natal progesterone compared with matched controls.
She noted that more children of mothers who had received ante-natal progesterone were still being breast-fed at six months, and more were standing and walking at one year.
At nine to 10 years of age, more children had demonstrated superior performance (compared to the control group) in academic subjects such as verbal reasoning, English, arithmetic and craft work.
Both groups were equally developed in physical education. None of the ante-natal progesterone mothers experienced toxemia during the pregnancy. In the control group, more than half experienced toxemia. This natural cream is not only safe for use during pregnancy, but it is also recommended afterward.
